Made circa 1943 by Savage in the USA. These were shipped to Britain (and other commonwealth nations) under the Lend Lease program. “U.S. PROPERTY” marked on the left ledge of the receiver. Small import mark on the underside of the barrel. Bolt and socket serial numbers do not match. Bolt and most other components are marked “S” for Savage. 25″ barrel with blade front sight and two position flip battle sight. Original blued finish. Stock has an arsenal applied lacquer. Magazine is Savage production. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, forming a brown patina in areas. Some cleaned surface rust on the socket and bands as well. Wood is excellent overall with a few handling marks. Bore is lightly frosted, with very good two groove rifling. A historic rifle for your collection! C&R eligible.
