Made May of 1940, at the St. Etienne Arsenal, just weeks before the German Invasion! What is even better about this rifle, is that it is serial 83 in the K block (started in May of 1940). There is a faint “1940” dated stock roundel on the right side of the stock. No import marks found. Matching serials on the frame, butt stock, trigger guard and fore stock. Bolt and bayonet do not match, but are in the same serial block. Standard pre war sights and bands. Military black enamel finish and oiled wood stock. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with a mix of brown patina and black finish wear. Wood has a few minor scrapes and scratches. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. A very unique and historic rifle for your collection! C&R eligible.
