Made 1917 by Remington and used by the U.S. in WW1. Shipped to Canada circa WW2, with broad arrow proof on the right side of the stock. Crossed out unit marks as well. Fore stock is painted red, to allow troops to quickly identify it as a .30-06 rifle, and not a Pattern 14 rifle in .303 British. Barrel is Remington production, dated “12-17” under a flaming bomb. Most small parts are “R” marked for Remington. Stock tip is “E” marked. “Eagles head” proof on the underside of the wrist Bolt is numbered, but not matching to the gun. Military blued finish. Wood has a light oil finish. CONDITION: Metal is very good overall, with general wear. Wood has light scratches and scrapes. Bore is lightly frosted in the grooves, with very good overall rifling. C&R eligible.
