Full Description

One of about 1,475 first model, Hotchkiss rifles, made circa 1879-1880 and purchased by the U.S. Navy. Chamber is marked “W.W.K./U.S./(anchor)/V/P/(Eagles Head)”. “W.O.G.” stamped on the left side of the butt stock. 28-3/4 barrel, with two bands. Blade front sight and 1300 yard rear, almost identical to the 1873 pattern trapdoor rear. Military blued finish. Some added finish to the barrel. Oiled wood stock. Original clearing/cleaning rod. CONDITION: Metal has mixed brown patina throughout. Wood has light scratches, scrapes and handling marks. There is a crack on both sides to the wrist, which is common for these rifles. Bore is clean near the chamber, with some frosting near the muzzle. Antique, no FFL required in most areas.
