Made circa 1943. Underwood barrel is dated “11-43” over a flaming bomb. No import marks found. Major components all look to be Underwood or Underwood contractor. “M” marked hand guard for Marlin (Underwood contractor). Stock is marked “P-U” in the sling well. Boxed “G.H.D./U.E.F.” on the right side of the stock, with a crossed cannons cartouche. 18″ barrel with blade front sight and 2-position flip rear. Parkerized finish. Wood has been lightly sanded/oiled. Includes an original canvas sling and “U” marked blued steel 15 round magazine. CONDITION: Metal is very good overall, as is the wood, both having light wear and handling marks. Stock has an interior crack. Bore is bright, with strong rifling. Sling and magazine have light wear. C&R eligible.
